One school of thought is that you should spend three months' earnings on an engagement ring. The story behind this tradition lies more in advertising than adoration but continues to be used by many.
We stock engagement rings across a broad selection of price ranges, so you can find the right one that your beloved will cherish forever. Love isn’t about how much you spend though, it truly is the thought that counts. Making your proposal the ideal celebration of your relationship is just as important.
A diamond ring is traditional for a wedding proposal. It typically has a larger stone to make it stand out and celebrate this important moment in both of your lives. Solitaire diamond rings and Halo diamond rings are the two most traditional styles for engagement.
However, the most important thing is that your ring should have a special meaning between the two of you. Therefore, it can be any type you see fit. If you have something specific in mind, our bespoke design jewellery service can turn your bright idea into a sparkling symbol of your love.
No matter what kind of design you desire, we stock engagement rings across a variety of prices, metals, stones and designs. Utilise the filters on this page to find what you need. Alternatively, you can contact us and our team will be on hand to help you find the perfect match.

When it comes to engagement rings for women, the latest trends may not be your partner's style. We recommend you explore our entire range of diamond and gemstone engagement rings and choose the one that is sure to put a smile on their face.
Many partners decide to purchase an engagement ring together, taking the pressure off the proposer and ensuring it will be worn with pride.
• Price: No matter how you decide your engagement ring budget, it’s important to put one in place before you start to shop. That way, you don’t have to say ‘no’ to something you (or they) love. Instead you can revel in saying ‘yes!’ to the one that fits the bill.
• Quality: A genuine diamond ring should be certified by an official body. Unless otherwise stated, all diamond solitaires over 50 points (1/2 carat) sold by F.Hinds are independently certificated and graded by AnchorCert. The quality of the metal you opt for is just as important. Poorly crafted metals can irritate your skin over time, even if they look good when first purchased. Metals such as titanium and platinum have grown in popularity due to their long-lasting and hard-wearing properties
• Design: Perhaps the most important aspect is the ‘wow factor’ that your partner experiences as you go down on bended knee and open the ring box. If you want to keep it a surprise, that doesn’t mean it has to be a complete guess. Speak to your partner beforehand to get an idea of their dream engagement ring. Then, visit us in person and we’ll see if we can find the perfect match.
Although engagement rings are traditionally given to one partner within the couple, the other partner may also wear one if you wish. We’re proud to stock both women's and men’s engagement rings so that you have plenty of choice.

We know you’ll want to wear your beautiful engagement ring daily and that’s fine for the most part. However, if you take part in physical activities, cook or do housework, we recommend removing it to avoid accidental damage. The stone on an engagement ring can be set in several ways, including:
Claw setting: Metal claws or prongs secure the stone in place. There are typically between two and six claws, depending on the ring you choose, and they're adjusted to fit the stone.
Illusion setting: The stone is claw set with an additional disc of metal which is faceted so that it catches the light, making the diamond look bigger by diffusing its outline.
Invisible setting: Stones are set side-by-side to hide the hardware underneath, which can create the illusion of a large, continuous stone.
Channel setting: Diamonds are set in a row and secured by the band of the ring. This gives a linear appearance with a continuous sparkle as no metal appears between each stone.
Grain setting: Tiny metal prongs secure gems within the ring, creating a 'beaded' effect as the little grains of metal twinkle and give an overall sparkle.
Rubover setting: Also known as a 'bezel' setting, this involves metal rims circling the stone and pushing it down to secure it in place.
Tension setting: This modern, minimalist style has a stone sitting between the two shoulders of the ring which means the side profile of the stone is on display.
In the UK, engagement ring sizes range from A (37.8mm) to Z (68.5mm) based on the circumference. Jewellery shops have measuring tools to help people work out their size. However, you can work out the measurements yourself by wrapping a piece of string around your ring finger. Then, simply measure this to get the circumference.
It's also worth noting that engagement rings with a larger bandwidth and more surface area tend to create a tighter fit. This is something your chosen jeweller can advise on.
Remember, if you find that the size of your chosen ring isn't quite perfect, we offer a free ring adjustment service. Find out more about the terms and conditions associated with this.
